AstraZeneca is facing a legal challenge in the US federal court after a group of patients complained about a persistent cough that left them feeling like they had "unexplained sleep disruptions," according to a statement issued on Wednesday.

AstraZeneca's patent on Crestor, the blockbuster cholesterol-lowering drug for patients with heart disease, is also challenged in the US federal court.

The company, which is based in New York, is also challenging the US District Court of New Jersey, which recently ruled that Crestor's patents are valid.

The ruling is the latest in a series of US Supreme Court rulings targeting the pharmaceutical industry, which has seen its market share shrink since the class action suit against the company, which was filed last week, was settled and a settlement is reached.

The patent was originally awarded to AstraZeneca to protect patents on Crestor, the blockbuster drug which had its name on the bottle but was soon acquired by rival AstraZeneca.

The patents were challenged by Crestor, a brand-name drug developed by AstraZeneca, which claimed to have the same efficacy as Crestor, and its rival AstraZeneca, which claimed a different product.

It is the first time a patent has been challenged in federal court in the US since the class action was settled.

In a ruling on May 17, a coalition of drug companies including Eli Lilly, Bayer and Novartis filed a lawsuit against AstraZeneca and filed a separate lawsuit against its rivals.

The lawsuit alleges that AstraZeneca's patent on Crestor is invalid and illegal under a provision of the US Patent Act, which allows the government to seize and use any drug that the drug manufacturer had a patent on.

The case was settled for $1 billion, which was later split up among three groups: AstraZeneca, which is based in London, and a rival drug firm AstraZeneca, which is based in San Francisco.

The group, known as AZA, is challenging the validity of the US federal court ruling, which is scheduled to take effect in November. It has also filed an appeal in the U. S. District Court of New Jersey, which is due to hear in May.

In the case, AstraZeneca sought to seize the patent on Crestor, which is owned by AstraZeneca, in the U. S., and the remaining patent on the drug's active ingredient, Rosuvastatin. In the latter case, the US government had previously argued that the US patent on rosuvastatin was invalid because of the lack of a clear disclosure of its uses.

In the US, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved Crestor as an off-label use for hypertension, cholesterol treatment and smoking cessation, but has not ruled out its potential use for other uses.

The US patent on Crestor has been challenged in the US Supreme Court of Canada, which was decided on March 21.

AstraZeneca also has its own drug that has been in the spotlight in recent months, including the cholesterol-lowering drug Zocor, which is in the final stages of clinical trials for the treatment of heart problems.

The company's patent on Crestor was also challenged in Canada and in the US, which are due to be decided in May.

The group has also filed a lawsuit in the U. S., which is expected to be heard by the Supreme Court of the US on May 26.

AstraZeneca is also seeking a preliminary injunction against the company's ability to bring a class action lawsuit in the United States, pending further legal proceedings.

AstraZeneca will remain in court for a decision on its own appeal in the United States.
